Membership
The members of the Society are the applicants for incorporation of the Society, and those persons who subsequently become members, in accordance with these bylaws and, in either case, have not ceased to be members.
A person may apply to the directors for membership in the Society and on acceptance by the directors is a member.
Every member must uphold the constitution and comply with these bylaws.
There shall be three membership categories:
a. General
b. Associate
c. Honorary
General membership is open to persons of Aboriginal descent and shall include voting privileges.
Associate membership shall be open to non-Aboriginal persons who do not have a vote but can sit on committees.
Honorary membership is open to those persons who have provided exemplary service to the Society and who have been nominated and approved by the Directors. Honorary members shall have voting privileges.
Any member may at any time challenge the Aboriginal status of an individual seeking General membership. The board of directors will then be required to examine the status of the individual before accepting membership
Annual membership fees shall be:
a. Life Time Members
(Open to Aboriginals who chose to disclose their HIV Status) $ 1.00/Donation
b. Full Membership $ 5.00
(Open to any person, community group, association organization
of Aboriginal ancestry that supports the mandate of the Society)
c. Association Membership $15.00
(Open to any Non-Aboriginal person, community group, association
or organization that supports the mandate of the Society)
d. Honorary membership
(Aboriginal Elders – 60 years or older as described by their communities) FREE
e. Aboriginal Youth Membership (Ages 0 – 18) FREE
