The Project supports individuals and families affected or traumatized by the residential school experience, through the use of traditional and western therapies. The project assists survivors in developing personal wellness plans and self support that may facilitate healing. Many of the behaviours that put people at risk of HIV infection are associated with poverty, addictions, disempowerment, and cultural disruption – impacts of residential school. Reclaiming and rebuilding Aboriginal cultural and spiritual strength is a cornerstone to addressing elevated incidence of HIV/AIDS and cycles of violence amoung Aboriginal people.
