Transitional Housing Policy Initiative

Prior to the development of this initiative for the Greater Vancouver Transitional Houses, Healing Our Spirit conducted an environmental scan of the service providers and specific policy related to working with ABoriginal Persons Living with HIV/AIDS (APHAs). In many cases, policy differed significantly from agency to agency. For APHAs this lack of consistency is perceived as confusing and inequitable.

This policy has been developed in the interest of aligning HIV/AIDS policy for service providers working with APHAs, particularly as it concerns Offender Transition Services. Over six round table sessions were held and attended by representatives from across the Greater Vancouver service delivery community from 2005-2006. THe purpose of these sessions was to educate, share expertise and develop a series of universal policy proposals. The culmination of the process was compiled into a policy booklet.

The policy paper is available by request. Please send all request through email to Cole Rheaume at coler@healingourspirit.org
